Legacy
— an app that helps people manage their will.
— an app that helps people manage their will.
Overview
A — Context
Legacy is an app that helps people track and manage their will in an interactive way.
B — Scope
1. Conduct research to understand the:
→ Challenges people face when creating and updating their will
→ Various legal requirements that must be met in order for a will to be valid
2. Build an MVP figma prototype and collect UX feedback.

C — Assumptions & Hypothesis
Research and Insights
A — Competitive Landscape
I studied existing will-tracking tools to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Here are some of the top problems I identified from the following direct competitors:
→ Limited customization — cannot tailor their plans to their individual needs and circumstances, and need to rely on generic templates.
→ Lack of legal advice — do not provide the same level of personalized legal advice that users would receive from working directly with an attorney.
→ Complexity — process of using these tools is complex or overwhelming.
→ Security and privacy — concerned about the security and privacy of their personal and financial information.

B — User Research
Through user interviews and surveys, I gathered pains, gains, and useful insights that were then translated into a user persona:
Ideate, Design, and Test
A — MVP Features
I presented my findings to the design community, and collaborated with other designers to brainstorm various ideas to implement in the product:
→ Navigator - Central dashboard to access all app features and functionality.
→ Assets - Allows users to add and manage their assets, including property, bank accounts, investments, and other valuables.
→ Dependents - Enables users to add and manage their dependents, including family members and loved ones who may be included in their will or estate plan.
→ Assets - Allows users to specify how their assets should be distributed among their dependents after they pass away.
→ Stories - A feature that allows users to record and share video messages with their loved ones after they pass away.
→ Password Manager - Enables users to securely transfer their passwords and login information to a trusted loved one after they pass away.
→ Family Accounts - A feature that allows users to connect and manage their family members' accounts, such as social media, email, and other digital assets.
B — UX Research
I then presented the design back to the users to gather their feedback. Here's what they had to say:
Final Design
A — Design System
I built a simple design system that compliments the pains of the users and maintains consistency throughout the prototype.
B — End Result
Based on the feedback received by the users, I continued to refine the prototype, which brings me to the current state of the prototype

Design Process Takeaways
→ The importance of balancing simplicity and complexity when designing for a traditionally complex process
→ The value of receiving iterative feedback
